GardaĆ­ clock driver travelling over 200km/h in Limerick

A DRIVER was clocked speeding at over 200km/h in Limerick City over the holiday period.

According to An Garda SƭochƔna, the driver was one among 4,600 drivers detected speeding during the annual Christmas Road Safety Campaign.

The highest of all speeds detected during this year’s campaign, the driver was clocked travelling 207km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N18 in Ballinacurra Weston.

GardaĆ­ said that 150 fixed charge penalty notices were issued nationwide during the campaign, including 45 for seatbelt offences. 435 vehicles were sized and 149 people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
