A MAN appeared before the courts this Monday charged with possession of an estimated €292,000 worth of cannabis, seized during raids on properties in Limerick and Cork last Friday.
He appeared before Limerick District Court accused of two offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Peter Vodros (45), of The Lane, Main Street, Bruree, was charged with possession of cannabis for sale or supply, as well as simple possession of cannabis, contrary to Section 15 and Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Garda Cormac Ryan, Henry Street Garda Station, gave evidence in court of the arrest, charge, and caution of Mr Vodros last Friday.
A drugs haul totalling €310,600 was seized by Gardaí as part of a Limerick Drugs Squad investigation when they raided houses in Bruree and Charleville last Friday (January 2).
Mr Vodros was represented in court by solicitor Sarah Ryan and bail with conditions was agreed between all parties.
The accused agreed to sign on daily at a Garda station, reside at an address in Charleville, surrender any travel documents in his possession, and not apply for new travel papers.
Mr Vodros also agreed to obey a nightly curfew, and to be contactable to Gardaí 24/7 via a charged and credited mobile phone.
Judge Patricia Harney granted bail and remanded Mr Vodros to appear before Limerick District Court for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on April 15.
A woman arrested as part of the same probe last Friday was released without charge on Sunday, pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
