
A MAN is to go before the District Court in Limerick this Monday morning (January 5) in connection with the seizure of more than €300,000 worth of illegal drugs.
An estimated €310,600 of suspected illegal drugs were seized during Garda raids in Bruree, County Limerick and Charleville, County Cork, on Friday, January 2.
Gardaí said that cannabis worth €198,000, €10,500 in cocaine, €79,252 in Xanax tablets, and amphetamines worth €4,350 were seized during the raid in Bruree.
A Garda spokesperson added that “at a follow up search of a residence in Charleville, County Cork, cocaine (€17,500), cannabis (€1,000), weighing scales, and drugs paraphernalia were seized”.
A woman (38) and a man (45) were arrested and questioned by investigating Gardaí under Section 2 of the Misuse of Drugs Act following the seizures.
The woman has since been released without charge, and the man is due to appear before Limerick District Court at 10.30am this morning.
Separately, on December 30, the Divisional Drugs Unit seized an estimated €540,000 worth of cannabis herb at a house at Carrigkerry, near Newcastle West, County Limerick.
No arrests were made.
It brings the total drugs seized in Limerick over the holiday period to almost €1million.
