ONE of Limerick’s biggest community events of the year – and the tidiest – is set to return this April, with everyone from Rhebogue to Rathkeale invited to take part.

Team Limerick Clean-Up (TLC) is set to make its return on April 3, making this Good Friday, as always, a great one for communities across the Treaty.

Registrations are now open for groups, businesses, schools, sports teams and organisations, and individuals from all walks of life to take part in the 11th installment of the largest day-long clean-up event of its kind in Ireland.

And, this year TLC is teaming up with Bus Éireann to encourage people across Limerick city and county to ‘get on board’ for 2026.

Registrations are open now for the 2026 clean-up through teamlimerickcleanup.ie/register, and close on March 14 for schools and March 21 for volunteers, groups, and organisations.

TLC was founded in 2015 by billionaire racing mogul JP McManus, Limerick Tidy Towns chairperson Helen O’Donnell, and rugby legend Paul O’Connell with the aim of instilling a sense of pride across Limerick while helping protect the environment.

Over 500 tonnes of litter have been collected by TLC volunteers since 2015, with over 23,500 people turning out to pick up 50 tonnes last year alone – the equivalent of around 2,000 full household wheelie bins.

In true community fashion, all clean-ups finish up with a cup of tea and a chat to celebrate the hard work done by families, friends, neighbours, colleagues, and communities, organisers said.

Speaking at this year’s launch, co-founders Paul O’Connell and Helen O’Donnell said: “We are delighted to partner with Bus Éireann this year as we mark 11 years of Team Limerick Clean-Up and would like to thank them for their support to date. We hope that volunteers, businesses, schools and clubs will get behind TLC again this year and register their groups online.”

“We need everyone to register correctly to ensure that we have enough equipment and rubbish collection points on Good Friday. We are also encouraging volunteers to reuse their equipment from previous years.”

TLC is supported each year by Limerick City and County Council, Limerick Post, Live 95, the Limerick Leader, I Love Limerick, Elive, Dunnes Stores, and Mr Binman. It is sponsored by the JP McManus Benevolent Fund.
