LIMERICK TD and Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Niall Collins, welcomed the initiative by Government to invest €600 million in small and medium (SME) builders.
This €600million investment involves an access-to-credit finance scheme through the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF), with €400million being set aside in equity and the banking sector providing a further €200million.
“The €600million injection is planned to unlock up to €2billion in overall financing for housing developments, with the potential to deliver up to 5,000 new homes.
This intervention by Government follows the publication of our Housing Action Plan, National Development Plan and the Accelerating Infrastructure Action Plan.
These measures have a critical role to play in increasing housing supply,” the Fianna Fáil man said.
