LIMERICK saw a huge jump in the number of electric vehicle (EV) registrations across last year, in comparison to 2024.
That’s according to figures released by The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).
According to SIMI, total of 645 EVs were registered in Limerick across 2025.
That represents a 44.62 per cent increase on the 446 EVs registered in all of 2024.
EVs still represent just a fraction of car purchases across the county however, with SIMI records showing 4,042 new car registrations throughout 2025.
This is a small (1.6 per cent) increase from the 3,976 new cars registered in 2024.
According to SIMI, the top selling new car brands for 2025 nationwide were Toyota, Volkswagen, Skoda, Hyundai, and Kia.
