Burns Night is a time to enjoy Scottish traditions and celebrate the renowned poet Robert Burns with a classic combination of haggis, neeps, tatties, some reciting of poetry, and maybe even a warming dram.

It’s also an opportunity to celebrate Scotland‘s enduring legacy of creativity.

The Mayor of Limerick, John Moran will open the evening. The festivities will include a colourful array of performances and traditions:

Adam Flannery will address The Haggis. Michael Egan will ceremoniously pipe in the Haggis, a highlight of the evening.

Phila Grace will sing the songs of Burns. Gordon Lessells will bring the classic Burns tale, Tam O’Shanter, to life.

Additional artists will grace the stage throughout the night.

Guests will enjoy traditional shortbread, Tunnock’s Teacakes, Scot Clan sweets, and have the chance to win spot prizes, including bottles of fine Scottish whiskey. The Haggis, a centerpiece of the celebration, comes from the esteemed Pat O’Doherty’s Butcher in Enniskillen, known for supplying the G8 summit and Harrods of London, with even King Charles among its patrons.

Michael Potter, who organises the event, reached out to Limerick Post to say,

“We are very thankful to all our sponsors for their support each year.

“This event is free. January is a dark cold bleak month. So hopefully we can brighten up things. Don’t miss this evening of tipsy dance and jollity!”
