LIMERICK City and County Council’s Environment team received an unusual call recently regarding a seal on the Corbally Baths.

The seal had been present for a few hours when Susan Kerwin from Bat Rehabilitation came along and aided Council staff to get the seal into a large animal transporter.

“This involved holding torches and using blankets to usher the seal into the carrier,” the Limerick Post was informed of the December 23 rescue.

Ms Kerwin explained that the seal was approximately three to four months old. The seal then made his journey to Portlaoise where it will be looked after.

“We were delighted to be able to give some assistance and to ensure the safe relocation of the seal,” the Council said.
