
STUDENTS with additional needs in Limerick are to benefit from 10 new school special classes, sanctioned by Minister of State for Special Education Michael Moynihan.
The classes will be posted in 10 schools across the county, including Colaiste Íde agus Iosaef, Coláiste Mhuire, Ballylanders National School, Broadford National School, Hazlewood College, Coláiste Iósaef, Our Lady’s Abbey Girls School, Scoil Chríost Rí BNS, Salesian Primary School, and Oola National School.
The 10 classes are included in a round of 168 new special classes spanning 159 schools across the country for the 2026/2027 school year.
“In 2026, over €3billion will be spent supporting students with additional needs.
This will include an increase of over 860 special education teachers and over 1,700 special needs assistant posts,” said Limerick TD Niall Collins.
