
A LIMERICK actress has been nominated for an Irish Film and Television Award (IFTA).
Eleanor O’Brien, from Cappamore, is among the nominees for Lead Actress in Film for her performance as pub owner, Peggy Casey, in Irish drama Báite, at this year’s IFTAs.
When a woman’s body is found under the waters of a lake in the countryside, and the arrival of a detective from Dublin, Peggy embarks on a journey to save her business and her family.
Báite has already been crowned 2025 Winner Best Irish Language Feature Film at the Galway Fleádh and 2025 Winner Audience Award at the Newport Beach Film Festival.
Other nominees for Lead Actress in Film feature Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Carrie Crowley (Aontas), Carolyn Bracken (Horseshoe), Fionnula Flanagan (Four Mothers), and Fiona Shaw (Hot Milk).
Eleanor O’Brien previously starred as Emily Blast in Blasts from the Past for RTÉ Young People’s Dept, and The Last Right as Sheila O’Neill.
She also featured on the BBC1 TV series Lynley, directed by Ed Bazalgette.
The Cappamore native holds over 10 years acting experience and last year was accepted into the Oxford School of Drama to continue her professional training.
Nominations for the 2026 IFTA awards were announced this week across 29 categories celebrating Irish talent across film and drama.
The awards ceremony takes place on Friday February 20 at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre and will be hosted by comedian, actor, and broadcaster Kevin McGahern, with winners announced on February 23.
