TWO proud Limerick parishioners were presented with a high honour from the Church.
At a recent conferring ceremony at St Nessan’s Church in Raheen, John Murphy and Marian White (photographed with Bishop of Limerick Brendan Leahy and parish priest Canon John O’Shea) were presented with the Benemerenti Medal.
The papal medals are given to individuals who have merited special recognition by the Holy See.
They were instituted by Pope Gregory XVI in 1832 and are conferred on people for distinguished service to Catholic principles, the Church, and society, who have shown an active service and devotion to the Church.
