Theatre Royal headliner announced for multi-award winning transatlantic collective

RENOWNED, multi-award winning transatlantic collective the olllam will play a 6pm show at Limerick’s Theatre Royal on Bank Holiday Monday, February 2. Tickets from allwehavearedays.com.

Led by John McSherry (uilleann pipes, whistles) and Joe Dart (bass), the line-up includes Michael Shimmin on drums, Ross Ainslie on whistles, Limerick’s Sean O’Meara on guitar and Joe Hettinga on keys, the olllam’s self-titled debut album won the 2012 Indie Acoustic Music Award for Best Instrumental Album, while their follow up album elllegy saw the band named Best Folk Group at the RTE Radio 1 Folk Awards.

The Theatre Royal lay unused in the city for 30 years, before recent renovations allowed it to open as a pop-up venue for the Joanne Ryan play ‘Connie’. The historic venue was previously the city’s primary cinema and concert location, welcoming Irish and international artists every week.
