VILLIERS School of the North Circular Road claimed a magnificent victory in the Men’s Sixth Year Relay Event at the Irish Indoor Rowing Championships, hosted by the University of Limerick Sports Complex.

The team, consisting of Timothy Gouws, Art Thornbury, Cormac Welch, and Noah Quinton, made their intentions clear from the very start.

Pulling ahead early in the race, the crew maintained a relentless pace throughout.

Their coordination during changeovers was sharp and efficient, allowing them to preserve momentum and control the race from start to finish.

Thornbury said: “Our team managed to pull ahead at the start and we continued to put distance between ourselves and our competitors as the event progressed. We finished with a time of 5:34.5, eight seconds ahead of second place.”

In an extraordinary bonus achievement, this winning time was also faster than every crew competing in the university age category, despite Villiers racing in a different division.
