
TWO men were due to appear before Limerick District court charged in connection with two separate alleged violent stand off situations with armed GardaĆ, including in one incident in which one of the men was tased by officers.
One man in his 30s was to appear before the court after GardaĆ and emergency services attended the scene of an alleged assault āthat occurred at a domestic residence in the Garryowen area of Limerick city, Monday 19th January 2026ā, GardaĆ said.
A woman in her 40s received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at the scene.
The suspect was charged and was to appear before the District Court this Wednesday (January 21).
Local sources said that the incident took place between 11pm and 1am on Monday night, and reported the man to be āon the property screamingā for a number of hours. It is understood the woman was at home alone at the time of the terrifying attack.
Meanwhile, a man was also due before the court on Wednesday after āGardaĆ attended the scene of an incident of criminal damage that occurred at a premises in the Mount Kenneth Place area of Limerick City on Tuesday 20th January 2026 at approximately 6amā, GardaĆ said.
Itās believed the man was tased by members of an armed Garda unit that responded to the scene.
āA male in his 20s was arrested and conveyed to a Garda station in Limerick City. He has since been charged and is due to appear in front of the Limerick District Court,ā GardaĆ said.
