
A DRIVER had a lucky escape when his car left a road and struck a ditch at Bruff, County Limerick, last night (Friday).
The driver, a man in his 60s, was travelling along the R512 when the red Peugeot that he was travelling in left the road on approach at Uregar Cross, Bruff, around 10.45pm.
The car struck a ditch, however the man escaped injury.
The collision occurred during rainy conditions, however it was unclear if road conditions at the time had played any part in the circumstances that led to the crash.
Gardaí said no other vehicle was involved.
It is the latest in a string of road traffic collisions at the crossroads in the last 12 months, locals said.
A Garda spokesman said: “Gardaí are investigating a road traffic collision at Bruff, County Limerick, in which a Gardaí attended the scene of a single-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred between Kilmallock and Bruff, County Limerick last night, Friday 23rd January 2026.”
“A car collided with a ditch on the R512 at Uregare at approximately 10.45pm.
“No injuries were reported.”
