TAXI drivers in Limerick were feeling the pinch on the lead up to Christmas.
That’s according to research by fintech company SumUp, which noted a “drastic decline in taxi journeys” in Limerick, Dublin, Galway, and Cork ahead of the Christmas period compared to 2024.
According to SumUp, taxi drivers in Limerick’s city centre saw a 4.99 per cent decrease in the number of transactions.
“Despite the drop-off in overall journeys, the data suggests that passengers are often simply choosing to take longer journeys, with the payment volume up by 1.72% in Dublin and 14.12 per cent in Limerick,” SumUp said.
