St. Saviours Community Drama Group will dedicate the world premiere of their new production The Reunion to beloved actress Margaret Tydings, who died last year.
The original dramedy, written by crime author Karen Fitzgibbon and the company, follows a group of retired teachers whose school reunion takes a sinister turn when a journalist begins asking questions about a missing colleague.
The premise, conceived by cast member Tadgh Collopy, explores the dangerous secrets lurking beneath lifelong loyalties.
“We lost a valued cast member and friend last year, our lovely and talented actress Margaret Tydings, and we want to dedicate our performance to her memory,” said Fitzgibbon, who also directs the production.
“This is a bold and brave move for St. Saviours once again. The challenge never seems to faze this group.”
The play centres on retired educators celebrating their newfound freedom when uncomfortable questions threaten to expose what they all know about a missing teacher.
The production examines the complex relationships between school staff and the lengths people go to protect dangerous secrets.
St. Saviours Community Drama Group, formed in 2011 in the CIE club with six members, has become one of Limerick’s most prolific amateur theatre companies. The ensemble has produced 14 sell-out shows, three short films, and earned a STAR Award nomination over 15 years.
The Reunion plays at Belltable on Thursday February 19 and Friday February 20. Tickets just €10.
