LEGENDS of Limerick is the theme of this year’s Limerick St Patrick’s Festival and, where the remarkable people, stories, and moments that make us who we are will be celebrated.
Running from March 13 to 17, the event will honour legends past and present as Limerick salutes sporting heroes, cultural trailblazers, literary giants, contemporary icons, and medieval figures.
Community groups, cultural organisations, venues, businesses, and event producers are being invited to take part in Limerick St Patrick’s Festival 2026.
According to Limerick City and County Council, last year’s parade drew 1,500 participants, while 70,000 spectators packed the city centre, transforming Limerick into a sea of music, colour, and joyous celebration.
“The St Patrick’s Festival is an opportunity to highlight what makes Limerick truly unique. It was important for us to have agreed this theme nearly 12 months ago, allowing us to plan and organise what will be a special event. The Legends of Limerick theme gives communities a chance to honour the people, stories and achievements that define our county,” Mayor John Moran explained.
As part of this process, the Festivals and Events Section of Limerick City and County Council is issuing an open call for applications for financial support to assist in the delivery of parades and events that will form part of the St Patrick’s Festival programme across Limerick city and county.
Participants are invited to bring Limerick’s rich heritage and vibrant modern spirit to life in a colourful celebration. Whether you want to march, dance, or perform, register on limerick.ie.
