A LIMERICK company this week announced its acquisition of a rival online fundraising platform that has helped change lives and do good in the world by raising countless millions for worthy causes.
Ticketing, fundraising, and membership platform Eventmaster announced that it has acquired one of Ireland’s most commonly used crowdfunding platforms, iDonate.
Eventmaster was founded in 2010 by Limerick man John Cleary and currently operates from Limerick City. The company, which provides ticketing, membership, and fundraising software across a number of industries – including sports events, charities, event organisers, and governing bodies – said in 2024 that is provided over 1.5 million tickets to over 3,000 events every year.
This week, it announced the acquisition of Irish fundraising and crowdfunding platform iDonate, set up in 2010 by Galway father and son Paddy and Alan Coyne.
“The acquisition will combine Eventmaster’s event-management, ticketing, and membership capabilities with iDonate’s fundraising expertise, creating a single, end-to-end solution for charities, community groups, sporting organisations and event organisers,” a spokesperson for Eventmaster said.
“The acquisition strengthens Eventmaster’s fundraising proposition and broadens the combined group’s ability to serve customers across multiple use-cases – from ticket sales and event registrations, to memberships and digital fundraising campaigns.”
As part of the acquisition, iDonate CEO Alan Coyne will continue with the business and will lead fundraising across the group, working with Eventmaster founder and CEO John Cleary.
Limerick man and Eventmaster boss John Cleary said that “the acquisition of iDonate represents a significant step forward for Eventmaster”.
“This acquisition re-enforces the position of Eventmaster as the industry leader across event participation ticketing and now fundraising in Ireland. We look forward to delivering an enhanced service to our existing customers and extending our ticketing and membership products to the iDonate customer base in both the domestic and international markets.”
