GARDAÍ were searching for the driver of a car who they said “fled” the scene of a three-car collision in which a woman died this past Friday night (February 13).
The fatal collision occurred on the N24 at Grange West, Boher, County Limerick, shortly after 11pm.
A Garda press statement said “investigating Gardaí are seeking to identify” a motorist who “fled, leaving the vehicle they were driving at the scene”.
Gardaí did not provide any further details about the motorist they were looking for.
The deceased woman was the sole occupant of one of the cars, Gardaí said.
“Her body has been conveyed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course, and coroner has been notified,” Gardaí said.
A man in his 40s, who was driving the other car involved, “was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time”.
Gardaí said the N24 between R505 and L1132 remained closed pending a technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions were in place.
Appealing for witnesses, Gardaí asked that, anyone with camera footage (including dashcam) or who were travelling on the N24 near Grange West, Boher, between 10.45pm and 11.30pm on Friday “to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí”.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
