RURAL Ireland Independent TD Richard O’Donoghue has hit out at the Government for what he deemed its failure for shoving people into cities that had seen infrastructure investment.

“What did it do then? It closed down every town and village around Ireland. What did that do? It drove up the price of houses because of a lack of supply,” Deputy O’Donoghue told the Dáil.

“Askeaton has done without a sewerage system for 46 years. It is due to be done some time this year.

However, we have been hearing that for 46 years. Dromcollogher has been waiting 15 years for an upgrade of the system.
