OVER 300,000 Lego bricks will be put together in Limerick later this month as part of Brick Shows Ireland nationwide tour, celebrating the popular children’s toy.

The Limerick Brick Show will be held in the Castletroy Park Hotel on Sunday February 22, where Lego aficionados and model makers will showcase some of their impressive displays.

Displays will include medieval castles, thousands of mini-figures, and a brand new Star Wars display inspired by the D Day landings.

On the day, there will be Lego space displays, a Lego play area, as well as speed builds and ‘guess who’ competitions for all the family to enjoy.

Three guest junior builders from Munster, all under the age of 12, will also display their own Lego creations.

Brick Shows Ireland was created by Limerick man Gary Kirwan, a keen Lego builder, and his wife Michelle.

Gary told the Limerick Post that “one of the best parts of the show is that it shows kids and adults alike what is possible and we give young people the chance to exhibit with us in the future. This is really important and unique to our shows as we aim to encourage young Lego builders.”

“It’s vital to encourage and nurture these young builders and it’s fantastic to see so many kids and adults interested in Lego at a time when so many people are spending so much time online”, he added.
