PREPARATIONS for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor have taken another step forward with planning permission granted for 10 self-catering accommodation lodges at the world-class resort.
The company that runs Adare Manor, Tizzard Holdings, applied for planning permission for the development last September.
The proposed site is located off the end of a local road in the area linking with the N21 Rathkeale Road to the southwest of Adare Town Centre, within the grounds of the Adare Manor.
Under the plans, the site design consists of a two-storey, three-bedroom, six-person detached lodge.
Each lodge will have living accommodation at the ground floor with an open-plan living room and enclosed kitchen with a dining area.
A utility room will also be located off the kitchen, and an external store will allow guests to store equipment like golf clubs or bicycles without having to bring them into the lodges.
On the first floor, there will be three similar sized en-suite bedrooms, made up of either a twin or double bed. There will also be a covered entrance porch to the front, and an outdoor patio area designed for each lodge.
Works as part of the proposal also include providing vehicular access via an existing gateway on a roadway linking with the N21 Rathkeale Road to include the removal of existing gates, and provision of a new  entrance piers and gates.
It will also provide connections to an existing foul pumping station on the Adare Manor wastewater treatment system network and a new services pathway linking to the existing road network.
The development will provide 22 car parking spaces, as well as an ancillary plant storage areas, signage, public lighting, bin stores, boundary treatment, and all related site development, servicing, landscaping and excavation works.
A large open space, located at the front of the site, is proposed and will provide space to the rear of each lodge.
Front gardens will include low growing shrub and perennial planting to create a sense of privacy and security for screening to the lodges.
Last week, it was announced that more than 1,400 jobs are to be created as part of a major Government investment in supporting the hosting and legacy of the golf tournament.
Limerick TD and Minister for Culture, Communications, and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan said the jobs will be created between the provision of infrastructure for the event, during the event, and beyond the event.
An allocation of €5.7m from Minister O’Donovan’s department was also announced to help ensure the event “produces a lasting legacy in Adare, in the wider Limerick region and in Ireland as a whole”.
The Ryder Cup will take place at the Adare Manor golf resort between September 13-19 next year.
