A LOCAL councillor has lauded the local authority’s supporting of a project for people with non-visible conditions and disabilities.
Aontú councillor Sarah Beasley passed a motion at Limerick City and County Council for the local authority to support the Sunflower Project.
The project allows people with hidden difficulties and conditions show to others (through the means of a subtle sunflower pin, lanyard, wristband, or card) that they may need extra assistance or consideration in some way – whether because of chronic pain, mental health challenges, or physical or mental disability.
This can come in the form of extra time at a till, for example, and makes hidden disabilities easier to recognise in places like airports, shops, and healthcare settings, Cllr  Beasley said.
