WORRYINGLY Darragh O’Donovan was forced off injured for Limerick in Sunday’s  2-19 to 0-17 National Hurling League win over Offaly at O’Connor Park, Tullamore.

He departed after only 20 minutes with a shoulder knock.

“It’s an AC joint injury,” revealed Limerick manager John Kiely.

“Thankfully nothing is broken but it will rule him out of the foreseeable future anyway until we get him back rehabbing and back out on the pitch again.

“We’ll have to wait and see how he responds. Some guys can bounce back from these. We don’t know the severity of it or the grade of it yet.”

He continued: “Unfortunate but these are the things that happen and the squad depth is strong and it is just an opportunity for the next person.

“To be fair to Darragh, he has had a great campaign so far. His energy has been brilliant. He has been back to where he was, possibly at his height, in performance levels and no doubt he will work really hard over the next few weeks to get back again.”

Two-time All-Star O’Donovan has been unfortunate of late with injuries (calf/finger).
