THE SHANNON Airport Group has been named winner of not one but two Green Awards, Green Public Sector Organisation of the Year and Green Large Organisation of the Year, which were announced at a ceremony in Dublin.

The Green Awards are considered one of the premier platforms for celebrating excellence in sustainability across Ireland and acknowledge organisations that are leading the way in environmental innovation, sustainable business practices, and climate action.

Commenting on the double win, Sinead Murphy, head of sustainability at The Shannon Airport Group said: “We’re really delighted, and honoured … 2025 was an important year for us as we made significant strides across all aspects of our sustainability strategy.”

“We continued to reduce carbon emissions which saw the airport achieve Level 3 Airport Carbon Accreditation last month. We launched our Solar PV farm, which will supply up to 20 per cent of the airport’s annual electricity needs, and we continued to enhance biodiversity and integrate circular economy principles.

“We’re very proud of that work and to have it recognised on a national platform, among other strong and respected fellow nominees, is really appreciated. I’d like to say a big thank you to our sustainability team and to colleagues across the entire Group for making sustainability a core part of their everyday working life.”

This year’s Green Awards had a record-breaking 300+ entries. The Shannon Airport Group was selected ahead of strong competition from organisations across both categories including Gas Networks Ireland, Calor, Roadstone, DAA, Eirgrid, and Waterways Ireland among others.
