MAYOR of Limerick John Moran hosted a series of sporty mayoral receptions, celebrating the achievements of a number of outstanding Limerick teams and indivudals who have distinguished themselves across a number of sports.
Included in the mayoral honours list were Ireland’s youngest ever female national marathon champion Ava Crean (who is set to grand marshall this year’s St Patrick’s Day parade; 2025 Gaynor Cup winners, the Limerick District Schoolgirl U14 Team; Limerick Sport Huskies, for thir outstanding achievement in this year’s Domino’s Women’s Division 1 National Cup; three-time world handball title winner Martina McMahon; World Schools Basketball champions for 2025 the Mungret Community College Girls U19 basketball team; and the Munster Wheelchair Hurling Camogie Club, who secured the 2025 wheelchair hurling camogie All-Ireland title in 2025.
