YOUNG Munster suffered a 31-13 defeat away to Lansdowne in Division 1A of the All-Ireland League.

Alan Kennedy scoring a try and Shane O’Leary kicked a conversion and two penalties.

The loss puts Munsters under pressure for promotion play-off qualification.

In 1B, Garryowen are closing in on a play-off place after a late rally saw them defeat Blackrock College 31-28 at Dooradoyle.

Max Clein scored a sensational four tries for the Light Blues and Rory Woods got one, with Lachlin Stewart kicking three conversions.

Highfield still remain in fourth place, three points ahead of Garryowen, after they lost at home 24-

In 2A, Shannon closed the gap to three points on second place Dungannon, after a late try from Neill Cronin saw Shannon beat the Ulster side 23-19.

Harry Long and Jamie Conway both scored tries for Shannon and Cillian O’Connor kicked two penalties and a conversion.

Elsewhere, Old Crescent suffered 24-21 home defeat by MU Barnhall but still look almost certain like they will still be involved in the relegation play-offs.

Timmy Duggan, Evan Creaven and Jeff Williams scored tries for Crescent, John Hurley kicked two conversions and Duggan one.

And, despite the 26-24 away defeat by Rainey, UL Bohemian picked up two valuable points in their promotion play-off hopes. Oisín Fagan scored three tries for the Limerick side and Padraic Galvin got one. Cian Casey kicked two conversions.

In 2C, Thomond held on to third place after their 34-24 home win against bottom side Malahide.

Jamie McGarry (2), Sam Birrane, Colin Slater and Jason Kiely scored tries for Thomond and Evan Cusack kicked a penalty and three conversions.

Bruff lost at home to Ballyclare 34-19.

Shane Duggan, Clem McAuliffe and Wiktor Wilczuk were the Bruff try scorers and Paul Collins kicked two conversions.

There are only a couple of regular rounds left in the League.

In the Women’s League, leaders UL Bohemian defeated Old Belvedere 44-21 in Dublin.

Lucia Linn scored two tries for the winners and Ciara McLoughlin, while there was one each from Eabha Nic Dhonnacha, Clodagh O’Halloran, Gráinne Burke and Rachel Allen got one.

Nic Dhonnacha also landed three conversions.
