LIMERICK’s Helen O’Donnell was named Community Volunteer of the Year at the recent All Ireland Community and Council Awards.

Mr O’Donnell, nominated by Limerick Council, received national recognition for her “extraordinary leadership and decades of service” to Limerick.

The Limerick City Tidy Towns chair and co-founder of the Team Limerick Cleanup has “mobilised hundreds of volunteers, strengthened community cohesion, and helped create a clearer, more vibrant Limerick”, the Council said.

Mayor John Moran congratulated Ms O’Donnell, deeming the award “well-deserved national recognition of the years upon years and the hours upon hours of volunteering time that she has put in to our communities”. “Helen’s work has made Limerick a much better place to live in. Limerick is very proud of her.”
