FIANNA Fáil councillor Catherine Slattery asked Limerick Council if the criteria for long term leasing can be changed so that tenants who do not want the furniture supplied can have it removed by their landlord.
At present, tenants are told that the items in the house cannot be removed.
Cllr Slattery was informed that all properties leased under the social housing leasing scheme should be furnished with basic furniture and appliances under the terms of the lease agreement, which cannot be altered.
Additionally, the comparable rents used to agree the proposed market rent are usually based on properties furnished with basic furniture and appliances.
