FOR the first time ever, audiences the world over will be able to experience the best the Treaty City has to offer as they tune in live to two of the highlights of the Limerick St Patrick’s Festival.

Limerick Council confirmed that both the Limerick City St Patrick’s Day parade (March 17) and the International Band Championship parade (March 15) will be broadcast live online around the world on limerick.ie.

“The new livestream initiative will allow viewers to tune in from anywhere in the world, bringing the colour, creativity, and spectacle of Limerick’s St Patrick’s celebrations to an even wider audience,” the Council said.

The St Patricks Festival will be celebrated the length and breadth of the county from this Friday (March 13) with five days of true Irish craic agus ceol.

Under the theme of ‘Legends of Limerick’, honouring the people, stories, and traditions that make Limerick unique, the Treaty County has a wide host of offerings for the Irish national day.

Brendan Troy, senior executive officer for tourism, enterprise, and trade at Limerick Council said the local authority is “thrilled to introduce livestreaming for both the International Band Championship and the Limerick City St Patrick’s Day Parade for the first time in 2026”.

“This initiative will allow people across the world to tune in and share in the excitement – whether it’s someone living abroad who wants to see their hometown celebrate St Patrick’s Day, grandparents watching to spot a grandchild in the parade, or friends and family supporting a band or community group taking part.

“It’s a wonderful way to open up these spectacular events to a much wider audience while still encouraging people to come into the city and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the festival in person.”

A special highlight this year is the inclusion of a free open-air concert at Arthur’s Quay Park on Monday March 16, featuring performances from Major Feen, The Labourers, Citrus Fresh, Hazey Haze, and Denise Chaila.

County parades are also taking place in locations including Broadford, Kilmallock, Newcastle West, Castleconnell, Hospital, Rathkeale, Adare, Mountcollins, Askeaton, Bruff, Castlemahon, Ballylanders and Abbeyfeale.

A post-parade St Patrick’s Festival block party will be hopping in Arthur’s Quay Park on St Patrick’s Day, where the Irish National Clown Orchestra and Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Company will come together for a large-scale outdoor performance.

A full lineup of St Patrick’s Festival events is available on limerick.ie.

Limerick Council announced temporary road closures on March 15 and 17 to facilitate the International Band Championship and the St Patrick’s Day Parade, including O’Connell Avenue, Quinlan Street, The Crescent, Henry Street, Liddy Street, Cecil Street, and adjoining roads, with closures generally in place from 7am to 3.30pm and parking prohibitions from 3am to 3.30pm on both days.
