LIMERICK Chamber has a new face at the helm in Maria Gleeson, chief operating officer of Soul Tribe, who has been appointed president of the business representative organisation for 2026.
Maria succeeds outgoing president Mairead Connolly, tax partner at PwC.
Ms Gleeson is hoped to build on the solid groundwork laid by her predecessors, bringing a wealth of senior leadership experience and a proven history of driving operational transformation and continuous improvement within complex, industry-leading organisations.
Her expertise encompasses dynamic commercial settings, strategic negotiations, and executive leadership, empowering organisations to uncover opportunities and achieve sustainable growth through effective brand positioning and marketing communications.
Ms Gleeson has served on the board of Limerick Chamber since 2021 and most recently held the role of vice president. During this time, she has contributed to several Chamber sub-committees, including Policy, City Centre, and the Climate Action and Biodiversity SPCs.
Her appointment comes at an important time for the organisation as it continues to represent and support its 400-strong membership base, which includes businesses of all sizes across the Mid West .
In her new role, Ms Gleeson will focus on strengthening Limerick’s position as a competitive and attractive location for investment, supporting member businesses and advocating for policies that support sustainable regional growth.
Reacting to her new appointment, Ms Gleeson said that “Limerick Chamber provides a powerful platform where businesses collaborate, innovate, and support one another while working collectively to shape policies that enable long-term regional prosperity; and it is a privilege to take on the role of president”.
“I am committed to building on the established legacy passed on from Mairead and our predecessors, and driving my vision as president, where Limerick Chamber will continue to be a powerful advocate, calling for action to leverage the assets in the region as a catalyst for growth.
“Together with our members, we will continue to champion policies that drive growth, support enterprise and strengthen Limerick’s position as a key engine of regional and national economic development.”
Donnacha Hurley, who was last month appointed as Limerick Chamber’s new CEO, welcomed the appointment, saying: “The role of president is voluntary and demands dedication, leadership, and a deep commitment to the business community. Maria has already made a significant impact through her work on the board and as vice president, and we are delighted to welcome her as president. With the support of our team, board, and members, we look forward to working closely with her in the year ahead to advocate for business and strengthen a vibrant, connected, and ambitious regional business community.”
