Limerick’s vibrant music scene takes centre stage at Arthurs Quay Park

On stage will be Denise Chaila, Hazey Haze, Major Feen, The Labourers and Citrus Fresh.

Zambian-Irish rapper, singer and poet Denise Chaila began performing on the Limerick music scene in 2012. Early collaborations with the award-winning collective Rusangano Family establish her voice before she released her debut EP Duel Citizenship in 2019.

Her mixtape Go Bravely (2020) won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year. Her anthemic single ‘Chaila’ brought her chart success. In 2022, she opened for Ed Sheeran’s Thomond Park stadium show. Her recent appearance at the All We Have Are Days festival in February saw Chaila exploring her love of Irish music.

Hazey Haze emerged in 2015 as part of Limerick trio Same D4Ence before going solo with PX Music in 2018 and opening for acts like Ghostface Killah and Nelly. His 2020 debut album Is Mise spanned 19 tracks and premiered via The Fader.

His 2021 recording ‘Epitome’ produced by Danny Lanham featured guest vocals from Seán O’Meara and Denise Chaila. Most recently, he released ‘For All The Island Field’, a trad folk album embracing seán-nós singing — a bold departure from his rap roots.

The Labourers formed in London in 2023 by Conor Bogue (banjo) and Michael Hickey (guitar) relocated to Ireland, added Dylan O’Shea (drums) and Euan Hickey (bass), and quickly built a reputation for their high-energy trad sound. Busy on the festival and venue circuit, they’ve opened for Brogeal and The Highstool Prophets, with fan favourites like “Maggie,” “Son,” and “Too Fast” designed to get a crowd moving.

Limerick rapper Citrus Fresh blends his rap sound with organic instrumentation tackling mental health through a dark lyricism and upbeat delivery. His debut album Operating System was a conceptual piece produced with collaborators 40Hurtz and Danny Lanham, featuring extensive live instrumentation. His most recent release, Good Grief, features guest appearances from Strange Boy, Godwin, and Rory Sweeney.

Major Feen are part of a growing trad-punk movement in Limerick, Major Feen fuse punk energy with Irish folk tradition, carving out a distinctive niche on the city’s live circuit. Regular performers for the likes of Trad Folkin’ Rocks promoters, they’ve been tipped as one of the most exciting acts to watch in 2026.
