Limerick student gets award for top exam marks

A LIMERICK student nabbed a top award in recognition of her Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA), where she received a 100 per cent distinction.

Jae Barron was presented with the Feargal Quinn Award at the recent Leaving Certificate Applied National Conference (LCANA) held in Athlone.

The Feargal Quinn Award is named after the first chairperson of the steering committee for the Leaving Certificate Applied syllabus in the late 1990s.

Jae left secondary school during her senior cycle, and later completed the LCA programme with Limerick Youth Service.

Jae is now studying laboratory techniques (applied science) and plans to study at mechanical engineering or biological and chemical sciences.
