LIMERICK post-hardcore band Mother of Pearl will release their new single, Roaches, on streaming platforms this Friday March 27.
The track marks the band’s first release since their 2025 debut album So Long to Knowing, and is the first in a series of singles recorded at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin. The recordings are intended as a transitional bridge between the band’s established sound and the direction they intend to take with future material.
Recorded and mixed by Aj Das at Windmill Lane, and mastered by Richard Dowling — whose credits include Motörhead and Sir Paul McCartney — Roaches addresses themes of substance dependency and its toll on mental, physical, and social wellbeing. Guitarist and songwriter Seth Collins describes the song as beginning “quite intensely and abruptly”, exploring how harmful substance use can leave a person isolated, “alone with the shame and guilt in knowing that you’re slowly killing your body.”
Lead singer Siofra McGuire says the single marks a significant shift: “This is a big step in the direction we’ve wanted to take for a long time.”
Since forming in late 2024, Mother of Pearl have sold out Limerick headline shows and appeared at Siege of Limerick and Whelan’s Ones to Watch.
