WHEN we were young, we’d listen to the radio, waiting for our favourite songs. Now they’re back again, like a long-lost friend, “Its Yesterday Once More,” all the songs we loved so well … fans of classic pop are set for a nostalgic evening as The Carpenters Experience arrives at the Lime Tree Theatre on Friday March 27 at 8pm.
Celebrating the enduring legacy of sibling duo The Carpenters – Karen Carpenter and Richard Carpenter – the production recreates the unmistakable sound that defined an era of easy listening and soft rock. “
Fronted by vocalist Maggie Nestor and backed by an eight-piece live band, the show has earned a reputation as the UK’s leading tribute to the Carpenters. Audiences can expect faithful renditions of beloved classics including Close to You, We’ve Only Just Begun, Top of the World, Rainy Days and Mondays and Goodbye to Love.
The performance pays particular homage to Karen Carpenter’s rich contralto voice—one of the most distinctive in 20th-century pop—paired with Richard Carpenter’s signature piano arrangements and lush harmonies.
