A MAN in his late teens (19) has been arrested in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in Co Limerick last month.
Nurse Aine O’Reilly, 30s, was driving to work at after-hours GP service Shannondoc in Limerick City when her car was struck by a hit and run driver on the N24 at Grange West, Boher, Co. Limerick on Friday, February 13.
Ms O’Reilly died instantly in the collision, which occurred on the N24, a short distance from her family home at Pallasgreen.
Gardaí issued a press statement at the time stating that they were “seeking to identify” a motorist who “fled, leaving the vehicle they were driving at the scene.”
A man in his 40s, who was driving the other car involved, “was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick for non-life threatening injuries.”
The male is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at a Limerick Garda Station.
