OVER 23,000 passports were issued to Limerick people in 2025, marking a significant rise in applications nationwide.
The figures were obtained by the TG4 current affairs programme 7LÁ from the Department of Foreign under the Freedom of Information Act.
It showed that 23,186 passports were issued in Limerick during this time.
It also highlighted a jump of almost 35 per cent in applications from Irish citizens living outside the State.
However overall passport applications fell by 12 per cent last year, with almost one million of these applications made through the Irish language.
