Marking the 100th anniversary of the biennial contest, there will be three build-up days in advance of the global sporting event from Tuesday September 14  to Thursday September 16 ahead of the competition between Europe and the United States from Friday September 17 to Sunday September 19.

The Ryder Cup does not have a fixed stadia like other sports and therefore all the key infrastructure has to be built at the venue (eg grandstands, hospitality).

That process will begin towards the end of Q1 of 2027 and plans will focus on enhancing the fan experience.

More than 35,000 people 87 different countries have also applied to volunteer at the tournament. More than 2,000 volunteers will be required to help Ryder Cup Europe stage the event.

They will fufil two types of volunteer role: the traditional on-course marshal role and a new ‘ambassador’ role that will support the overall fan experience and the smooth running of the event.

The application process to be a volunteer began at the start of February and closes on April 1.

Team Europe named its captain earlier this month with Luke Donald taking on the role.

Mr Donald previously led Europe to victory in Rome and New York and will attempt to become the first Captain in the 100 year history of the Ryder Cup to win three times consecutively.

Qualification criteria has yet to be announced but the qualifying period normally begins towards the end of the summer and runs for approximately 12 months.

Meanwhile, Team US is yet to name its Captain, that decision will be made by The PGA of America.

Richard Atkinson, Chief Ryder Cup Officer, said: “There may be 16 months still to go until the 2027 Ryder Cup comes to Adare Manor and Limerick, but there is already considerable excitement across the island of Ireland. We are making good progress with all elements of our planning and preparation for next year’s event, which is set to be one of the biggest sporting events ever to be staged in Ireland.”

“We look forward to making some notable announcements in the coming months, including details of how Irish fans can get tickets and ensure they are part of the 100th anniversary of golf’s greatest team contest when it returns to Ireland for the first time since 2006.”
