
AHEAD of the final round of fixtures in Division 1A of the All-Ireland League, it appears for the first time ever that no team from Munster will be involved in the play-offs.
Young Munster, despite their merited 22-20 away win against St Mary’s College, cannot qualify.
Jake O’Riordan, Luke McCready and Fionn Gibbons scored tries for Munsters, and Kelvin Langan kicked two conversions and a penalty.
Dublin quartet Clontarf, St Mary’s College, Lansdowne, and Terenure College are the likely qualifiers from the top-tier.
Elsewhere, Garryowen secured their place in the 1B promotion play-off after their 68-21 home victory against bottom-side Queens University.
Seán Sexton, Tom Ironside Wickham, and Brian Fitzgerald each scored two tries, and Finn McCall, Ben Leahy, Lachlan Stewart and Luca Cleary claimed one apiece.
Unerring Stewart kicked nine conversions.
Shannon, already assured off a play-off place in the Division 2A promotion race, defeated the leaders MU Barnhall 28-12 at Thomond Park.
Cian O’Halloran, Jamie Conway, David Smith and OisÃn Minogue scored five-pointers for Shannon and all four were converted by Cillian O’Connor.
Relegation-bothered Old Crescent lost 47-13 at Cashel.
UL Bohemian moved up to second place in 2B after a good 31-20 away win at Skerries.
Evan Lacey scored two tries for Bohs and Darragh O’Gorman, Greg Fitzgerald and Paul Clancy got one each.
Cian Casey landed three conversions.
In 2C, Thomond remain in third place after their 17-10 home win over Ballyclare.
Evan Cusack and Jake Connolly scored tries for Thomond and Cusack converted both, and also added a penalty.
Bruff suffered a 36-24 away defeat to Monkstown.
