The service said that demand for blood supplies continues to rise in Irish hospitals, with 22,918 units issued in the first two months of this year.

Ahead of Easter, Limerick racecourse will host two donation clinics from 4.20 pm to 7.40 pm on Wednesday, April 1 and Thursday, April 2.

Appointments from first-time and regular donors can be made on 1800 222 111.
