GARDAÍ are investigating after two people were injured when a firearm was discharged in a Limerick City suburb.
The two men sustained pellet wounds in the shooting at Singland Park, Garryowen, around 2.30am this morning.
The mens injuries are non-life-threatening.
Gardaí are examining a number of possible motives for the gun attack.
One theory being examined by Gardaí is that the shooting is linked to a local dispute involving local rival groups.
A statement from the Garda Press Office said that “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene following report of an incident involving the discharge of a firearm at a residential location in Garryowen, Limerick, this morning, Thursday 2nd April 2026 at approximately 2.35am”.
“Two males (a youth aged in his teens, and a man aged in his 40s) were conveyed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.”
The Garda spokeswoman said that “investigations are ongoing”.
