UISCE Éireann has confirmed that “locals in Athea can now look forward to a more reliable water supply” after the laying of 2.5km of new water mains to replace old mains “prone to bursts along the R523 and R524.
The works were carried out as part of the water service’s national leakage reduction programme.
The works were carried out on Uisce Éireann’s behalf by Ward and Burke Construction.
“Following the completion of the works, it is necessary to reinstate the permanent road surface, and these works will be programmed and carried out in due course by Uisce Éireann in partnership with Limerick County Council,” Uisce Éireann said.
