THE final week before the Easter break was certainly one to remember at Coláiste Chiaráin in Croom, County Limerick, where students and staff had much to celebrate from pitch to stage and beyond.
Treading the boards, students distinguished themselves at the Bierty Light Entertainment All Ireland competition, with Coláiste Chiaráin being crowned champions. Harry Moriarty took home the gong for Best Individual Performance, while Mia Rouziers and Cormac Clancy received a Judges’ Award. The students also earned a Best Director prize at the national awards.
On the pitch, Coláiste Chiaráin took the title in the U15 Munster GAA PPS TUS Corn Sean Stac final in a storming victory over Desmond College, of Newcastle West. The success was followed up by the school’s junior camogie team recording a comprehensive victory over Comerage College in the Munster Camogie final.
In basketball, the Form 1 Girls and Boys teams were both crowded south west regional champions, and will progess to the All Ireland series.
Back in the world of academia, the schools Form 3 students represented at the Irish Maths Teachers’ Association Regional Pi Quiz in Kilfinane, where Sonia Holmes, Kainoa Navarro, Tadhg Twomey, and Zuhaa Sarmad took home the win.
And to round the week of success out, the school announced Daithí Ó’Géaní as its new deputy principal, joining the school from Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh.
School Principal Gerard O’Sullivan said “it is always a privilege to celebrate the fantastic talent of our students and all that they accomplish under the dedicated mentorship of our teachers”.
