INDEPENDENT councillor Ursula Gavan and Fianna Fáil councillor Joe Pond were delighted to see their General Municipal Allocation funding literally turn on in the form of a lighting enhancement scheme for Main Street in Castleconnell.
Welcoming the initiative Cllr Gavan said the new lights really enhance the village as well as contribute to a great sense of community safety and wellbeing.
“The future looks bright,” she enthused. Mayor John Moran was on hand to see the unveiling.
This followed a constructive discussion on other local matters for the village, namely the community park and local playground expansion at a recent meeting.
Cllr Gavan described the meeting as a good example of the Council consulting with local communities before making decisions.
