OVER €50,000 has been raised for a Limerick father of 10 who remains in hospital after suffering multiple strokes.

Members of Feenagh Soccer Club have rallied around to support 45-year-old local man Ronan Gilbourne, who has been unable to return to work following the series of strokes.

Mr Gilbourne is expected to remain out of work for the foreseeable future while he recovers.

The Limerick man, who experienced his first stroke just three weeks ago, was described as a “devoted husband and father of 10 and the main source of income for the family” in a GoFundMe fundraising campaign page set up for him.

“Unfortunately Ronan has a long road ahead of him to recover from this setback. He is well known for being a great community man in Feenagh Kilmeedy, most notably for his long standing involvement with the soccer club, as well as the GAA club and the Full Moon Rising committee.”

The online post said that the Gilbourne family would like to thank all who have reached out with support and best wishes so far, and that any donations to help them during this time would be gratefully appreciated.
