Eleanor O’Brien, nominated for Lead Actress at the 2026 Irish Film and Television Awards, returns to her home city for a special screening of Irish-language thriller Báite
BELLTABLE will roll out the red carpet for local actress Eleanor O’Brien on Monday April 13, as the IFTA-nominated star joins audiences for a special 8pm screening of the Irish-language murder mystery thriller Báite.

O’Brien, a Limerick native whose stage work has long been a fixture of the city’s arts scene, has earned a nomination in the Lead Actress in Film category at the 2026 Irish Film and Television Awards for her performance in the film. Guests attending the 8pm screening are invited to a wine reception ahead of the showing, with a post-screening Q&A to follow, facilitated by Dr Jenny McMahon.
In Báite, O’Brien plays Peggy Casey, a determined 23-year-old running her family’s pub in a rural Gaeltacht village in 1975. When the discovery of a body in a nearby lake threatens both her livelihood and the wider community, Peggy finds herself at odds with siblings eager to sell up. The film is presented in Irish with English subtitles.
O’Brien’s connection to Limerick’s performing arts community runs deep. Best known to television audiences through roles in Fair City, The Last Right, and Blasts from the Past, she has appeared in three pantomimes at the Lime Tree Theatre — Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladdin, and Rapunzel — and has been involved in development programmes at Belltable for the past decade.
Both the Lime Tree Theatre and Belltable have expressed their warmest congratulations to O’Brien on the success of Báite.
The film will also screen at 5pm on the same date as part of Belltable’s weekly IFI@Belltable series, which takes place every Monday evening at 5pm and 8pm.
