LIMERICK’S Matthew Twomey has enjoyed a top 10 finish at the Irish Open Poker Festival at the RDS, Dublin.
He secured eighth place and over €60,000 after earning his seat through a live satellite.
A veteran of nearly 50 years in the game, Twomey described reaching the final table as “fantastic” and praised the tournament’s inclusive atmosphere.
The Open spanned 12 days with almost 90 events, culminating in the €2,500 main event, which smashed its guarantee to create a sensational €4.85million prize pool.
The tournament welcomed more than 5,000 players from over 60 countries.
Narcis Nedelcu of Romnia was the overall winner, and collected €335,000.
