80 NOTICES to quit were received by renters across Limerick city and county in the first three months of this year.

That’s according to figures provided by Limerick City and County Council to city Aontú councillor Sarah Beasley.

The figures for 2026 so far, Cllr Beasley suggested, will see this year “far outpace” numbers recorded across the last two years. The figures show 238 notices to quit received by renters in Limerick in 2024, increasing to 275 in 2025.

Cllr Beasley suggested that, if numbers for this year were to persist, the county would be in for a “record-breaking year”.

“Each of of these notices represents a family or individual who is now facing the very real prospect of losing their home,” Cllr Beasley said.
