THE Glen Tavern and Fun Limerick Productions (F.L.P.) will launch Seomra Comhrá (Conversation Room) this Friday, April 17, at 7pm.

The initiative places a dedicated art space within the fabric of the traditional public house, inviting customers to engage with new visual works while enjoying a pint. Organisers describe it as a fresh way of bringing art into the public realm, blending the sociable atmosphere of the Irish pub with the imaginative world of the visual artist.

“Patrons enjoying the hospitality of The Glen Tavern may absorb the ambience of tradition, while being exposed to new ideas and art – sláinte mhaith!,” the organisers said.

Occupying a dedicated corner of the bar, Seomra Comhrá will present a rotating programme of works designed to spark conversation in a fun and
approachable manner.

First to exhibit is Limerick-based artist Tim O’Neill, who works from Wickham Street Studios. His multidisciplinary practice spans collage, installation and drawing, with a particular interest in found imagery and the aesthetics of mass-produced illustration from the mid to late twentieth century.

Through reassembling and reinterpreting popular visual culture, O’Neill reflects on memory, materiality and the overlooked narratives buried in everyday ephemera. His work runs from April 17 to May 8.

He will be followed by painter Melanie O’Rourke, showing from May 8 to 29, and photographer Dan Scully, whose work will occupy the space from May 29 to June 18.
